Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Due to the incredible rejuvenation potential of Platelet Rich Plasma, it has been used in many aspects of medicine for many years, including orthopaedics, dentistry and surgery.

In cosmetic medicine, it is also known as the ‘Vampire Face Lift’ or ‘Dracula Therapy’ and it can be used on any part of the body where repair, rejuvenation and improvement are required. It is particularly suitable for around the eyes and lips (where other treatments are more problematic), cheeks, mid-face, jaw line, forehead, neck, décolletage, hands, genital region and there is evidence for its use on the scalp for hair rejuvenation. 

PRP is our most popular treatment as it uses your own blood and extracts your own growth hormones to stimulate new tissue to grow. No chemicals or anything that isn’t naturally yours is injected. 

PRP is one of the very few treatments that generates new elastin in your skin. Most people know that your face is made of collagen / hyaluronic acid which provides the shape and volume, but the other essential component is elastin fibres, which are what they sound like – stretchy fibre that keep your skin in shape and snaps back when stretched. We lose these as we get older so areas especially under our eyes, around the jowls and the back of hands start to sag from lack of elasticity. 

It’s not possible to buy syringes of elastin, only hyaluronic acid, which is dermal filler and contains no elastin. To replace our elastin, we have to grow our own, and the growth hormones in PRP made from your own blood does just that, making your skin less saggy, more elastic and tighter, as it was when you were younger.
